The Poth Pirettes gave their all on the field, but fell to Hallettsville two games to one on Saturday, ending their season in the regional finals.

The Poth Pirettes had a great season, and have nothing to hang their heads about. Hallettsville was on a mission, and overcame a tragic week to advance to state.

There’s a reason why tall athletes such as Haley Leopold of Hallettsville play first base so well.

Cherise Klekar was unstoppable in game three for the Lady Brahmas.

Poth coach Carilee Robbins was incredibly proud of her team and their performances this season.

What an awesome catch by the Pirettes!

Coach Mike Mikeska of Hallettsville had his players focused on this series, despite this week’s tragedy. Tyler Bludau, a Hallettsville senior who was the first baseman on the baseball team, passed away early Sunday morning after he was thrown from a truck.

Another regional final softball game, another collision at home plate.

Safe at home…

In the end, Hallettsville edged Poth 3-2 for the berth to next week’s state tournament.

It was a wild Tour Stop in Stockdale Tuesday night, as the Brahmas and Pirates battled on the field, with Stockdale trying to stay in first place, and Poth attempting to get back in the playoff race.

When all was said and done, Stockdale defeated Poth 12-8 on a beautiful Tuesday evening.

Coach Josh West and Brian Uriegas discuss strategy.

Coach Hajovsky wondered why you couldn’t order Dr. Pepper at the concession stands.

Colton West drives in a run or two…

Braden Lyssy started on the mound for Poth.

Safe…

Not safe…

This scoreboard was freaking people out…

With the win, Stockdale maintained a share of first place with Karnes City, which beat Nixon-Smiley 4-3.

The Poth Pirettes and Stockdale Brahmas faced off in a key 28-2A softball game Tuesday.

The Lady Brahmas from Stockdale fought hard, but fell to the Poth Pirettes Tuesday night in Stockdale.

The Poth bats were hot…

… and their pitching wasn’t too bad, either.

Poth senior wins national powerlifting title!

Posted by Jay Tope on April 6, 2009 at 10:07 pm

How about this for a story… Tyler Garcia, a senior at Poth High School, just won the High School Powerlifting National Championship in her weight class last Saturday.

Prior to that she won not only the 2A state title, but the overall state competition from 1A thru 5A in Texas.

Her family, including Uncle Tony, is very proud of her and wishes her well when she travels to Brazil for world competition. Also, we must congratulate Tim Bordovsky, the Poth Powerlifting Coach.

Tyler is in various other sports at Poth, as well as being a cheerleader and was nominated for homecoming queen. She has represented Poth and Texas well and now the USA.

Oh, yeah and she weights 97 lbs and is 4′7 1/2.

Great job, Tyler!!
