Stormy & Paulette Williams’ Nueces Canyon student column

Hey all you Panther Fans!

As you well know, football is almost over and while the win-loss record does not reflect it, the Panther football team has made improvements by leaps and bounds. They are playing as a team and really persevering through this season with heart and fight, and they are playing good football. Coach Bowman has really made a huge difference in our program… we all are thankful that he and his familiy are in the Canyon.

The Lady Panthers have started basketball practice with Coach Sweeten and Coach Roe Burleson, who we are so excited to have back. He’s a beast when it comes to getting us in shape. We love you Coach Sweeten and Coach Roe!

We are looking forward to an exceptional year in basketball and we invite all of the community to come out and support both the Panthers and Lady Panthers basketball teams this season. We are even anticipating having a girls JV team this year, so it will make for more excitment on game nights.

The Pride of Pantherland, the NCHS marching band, has once again made it to the state marching contest to be held at the Alamodome on Monday November 2; they will march at 7:59am sharp, so everyone set your alarms early and come out and support our band as they continue their streak of excellence in music and marching.

The cross country teams have been running hard and improving all season and are eagerly anticipating their district meet. GO XC!

Stormy Williams’ weekly Nueces Canyon Panthers column

Well Panther fans, basketball season has started. The NC Lady Panthers played the Hondo Owls last night and defeated them 55-46 to start the season off with a bang. The Lady Panthers will travel to Christoval on Friday night to play the Tigers.

The Panthers will start their season next Tuesday when the Panthers and Lady Panthers travel to Menard to take on the Yellowjackets.

The Panthers are just off of football season, but will be working diligently with coach Bowman this week to prepare for the season.

The Lady Panthers have been practicing hard since 10/22 and they are hoping to improve on a regional quarterfinals appearance from last season.

Come out and support the Lady Panthers and Panthers this Basketball season.
