The Leakey Eagles volleyball program has become a regional power at the 1A level under Coach Dusty Crafton’s guidance. So it only made sense to reach for a championship-caliber coach to replace her.
Enter Russell McElroy, former assistant coach at West Texas A&M, where he shared in a 1997 National Championship.
McElroy left West Texas A&M after 10 years for Perryton High School. And after four years as their head coach, he has become the new Leakey High School head volleyball coach.

Xavier Rangel, who has coached at Levelland over the past two years, is the new head football coach at Leakey High School.
Rangel, a Texas tech graduate, is no stranger to the area; he coached in Rocksprings under HFC/AD Robert Hernandez a few years ago.
