History was made, as Madison and Steele played before a nationally televised audience on ESPN.

18-0 victory strengthens playoff hopes, eliminates Smithson Valley

The Madison Mavericks sent 20 batters to the plate in the top of the first, taking command on their way to a 18-0 victory in five innings over the Roosevelt Rough Riders Thursday evening at North East Stadium.

Madison (16-11-2, 8-7 in 26-5A) are tied for fourth with MacArthur and Johnson after Thursday’s action. Johnson’s last game is at New Braunfels Friday night; Madison finishes their season against Reagan April 30th at Basse-McCoullough, and MacArthur’s final game is against New Braunfels April 30th at North East Stadium.

The Churchill Chargers scored four runs in the fifth inning, and then held off a seventh-inning rally by the Madison Mavericks for a 4-1 win Monday night at Blossom Athletic Center.

Pitcher Michael Kraft earned the win on the mound for the Chargers, who moved to 6-0 in 26-5A play.
