Highlands, MacArthur combined for four hits in 1-1 game

MacArthur’s Mario Siller twirled a three-hitter, and Highlands’ Joel Camacho and Rory Rivera combined to one-hit MacArthur as the teams played to a 1-1 tie Thursday afternoon in North East Tournament action at Paul Lindy Field.

Siller and Camacho each had no-hitters through four innings. Siller’s was broken up when Travis Bailey stroked a one-out single to right in the top of the fifth. Bailey went to second on a wild pitch, to third on a basehit up the middle by Jeff Cavazos, and scored on another wild pitch. Cavazos was stranded at second after Jonathan Valentine flied out to right and Joel Camacho struck out to end the inning.

Highlands girls close season with a loss PDF Print Email

Jackson, Flores lead Carroll to 64-47 victory over Lady Owls

The Highlands Lady Owls finished their season in seventh place after a 64-47 loss to the Corpus Christi Carroll Lady Tigers Tuesday evening at the Alamo Convocation Center.

The Lady Owls (14-19, 3-11 in 27-5A), playing their last game of the season, could have created a three-way tie for fifth in the district amongst themselves, Carroll, and East Central with a victory. Instead, Carroll finishes fifth, East Central sixth, and Highlands seventh.

It’s that time again!

The SAsports.com Jaguar Classic runs Thursday through Saturday at Floresville High School, and with 24 high school teams it is the best girls basketball tourney in South Texas.

Teams include Steele, East Central, Highlands, Brackenridge, Kerrville Tivy, Brandeis, Bandera, Southside, Floresville, CC Miller, Calallen, La Vernia, Burbank, Cuero, Beeville Jones, Lytle, Poth, Medina Valley, Lee, Del Rio, La Joya, Southwest, Stevens, and Poteet.

We will see you in Floresville beginning Thursday!
