Howdy Tiger Fans!

It’s been busy down here in Tiger country; we are all working hard on the field, court, and road. The 2010-2011 year should be a great one for all Brackett athletes; we all have high expectations for our big class of seniors.

I’ll kick off with my personal favorite- the cross country team. This year looks to be just as promising as the last four. We have seven returning girl seniors; Bianca Cruz, Sahara Rodriguez, Haley Hale, Erica Villanueva, Icela Rueda, Cheyenne Smith, and myself. In addition to our bunch of seniors have Jaclyn Abbey, Mercedes Ocasio, and Shannon Gammill. The girls this past week had an outstanding win out in Uvalde, where they kicked off the year to a great start. Here is what Bianca Cruz had to say:

“Our team started off young and with lots of doubt from people. People who said freshmen could never lead a team. What I say to those people is to look at us now, and how far we’ve made it - three straight years to state! And we are still going strong and hard. I believe this year will be a year to remember forever. I know this because we all want the same thing; and that is to make history. And we will!”

Hey Tiger Fans,

First of all I apologize for not updating you the past couple of weeks; it has just been too busy here in downtown Brackettville. Everything has just been so hectic from homecoming, right down to playoff games. I’ll try and make up for it by recapping these past few weeks for you. And secondly I am very sorry to say all fall sports have come to an end out here in Tiger country.

Back to the good stuff- The Tigerette volleyball team came out district champs! When it came down to it, at the end of district, the ladies really stepped up and played the way that everyone was waiting for. First they defeated La Pryor, then the next BIG game was Sabinal- and of course it was a good one- with the Tigerettes coming out with the win. Then to cap off the perfect ending to district, they defeated; Charlotte, Comstock, and D’Hanis to grasp the District Championship title. Because the Tigerettes were district champions they received a bye for the first round of playoffs and played their first playoff game on November 5th. Unfortunately, the Tigerettes just didn’t have the edge that they needed to come off with a win. The ladies lost in a very close match that went to five sets. The girls improved so much throughout the season- they ended up being a great team. Everyone is so proud of them and look forward to seeing what next year brings.

Football: D’Hanis vs. Brackett PDF Print Email
Written by Jay Tope
There’s nothing like Saturday night football in D’Hanis, Texas. It’s a South Texas tradition, with fans from all over the area showing up.

And last night it was the D’Hanis Cowboys fans doing the most cheering, taking care of the Brackett Tigers 36-12.

And the band played on….
